Intel processor tests for 14th-generation desktops have appeared.

The real new among them is ONLY i7-14700k. In a number of work tasks i9-13900K is still noticeably faster, but if we're talking about games, then even at far from real settings in FullHD with RTX 4090, the difference between i9-13900K and i7-14700K is something about 1-2%, if we average benchmarks from different publications.

And now the most interesting thing - since the difference between i9-13900K and i9-14900K (refresh of the same CPU) is also about 1-2%, the same is true for comparing i7-14700K and i9-14900K. In practice, a user without enabled monitoring is unlikely to notice a 2-4% difference between the new i7 and i9 in games. And even with enabled monitoring at real settings - hardly.

For work tasks, there is still a sense in buying an i9, and without much difference - i9-13900K or i9-14900K. If the price is the same, it's better to take a newer chip. If the price difference is significant, it is more reasonable to take the cheaper one.
