Cryptocurrency exchange Binance will open a blockchain hub in Georgia
After a series of summits and agreements with universities and government agencies, the platform will engage in educational projects and attract new specialists to the country's crypto industry
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced the creation of a new blockchain hub in Georgia, calling the country one of the most innovative in the region, and expressed its willingness to actively participate in the development of its crypto industry.
Through the project, Binance hopes to attract more specialists to the blockchain sector, promote educational programs and contribute to the overall development of Georgia's crypto industry, the statement said. The local Binance team currently has 25 people but plans to create "dozens more jobs" by the end of the year.
In November 2022 the head of Binance Changpeng Zhao visited Georgia and met with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as well as communicated with local members of the crypto community. In 2023, Binance signed memorandums of cooperation with five Georgian universities. In addition, the exchange and the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), the state body responsible for the development of technology and innovation areas, entered into a partnership in which GITA will support Binance initiatives aimed at accelerating the development of the digital asset industry in Georgia.
Zhao also met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in 2022, and they discussed blockchain and cryptocurrency cooperation.
